Ah, the 90s sleepover – a quintessential experience that many of us fondly recall from our childhood. Those nights were filled with laughter, snacks, and a dash of mischief, all wrapped up in the comfort of friendship. This was before the technology boom so there were no smartphone or internet searches. And television wasn’t on demand and you couldn’t skip commercials. Let’s journey back to those simpler times and reminisce about some of the classic elements that made 90s sleepovers so special.

Some of my favorite 90s sleepover memories include watching Dirty Dancing and dreaming of being Baby with Patrick Swayze as a dance partner! I mean who didn’t want to carry that watermelon! Making prank phone calls was also a 90s sleepover must! In the days before smartphones, we would call our crushes and use *67 so they had no idea who was calling. Or we’d dial up the local radio station and request songs all night.
Music was the heartbeat of our 90s sleepovers. We'd create mixtapes filled with our favorite hits – Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, TLC, and the soundtrack to "Titanic" were guaranteed crowd-pleasers. Then, we’d create a synchronized dance to one of our favorites, dancing and singing along until our voices gave out. It was the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable night.
The quintessential climax of any 90s sleepover – the art of toilet papering someone's house. We were on a mission, armed with rolls of toilet paper and hearts racing with excitement, trying not to giggle as we threw toilet paper rolls into the trees! It was a blend of innocent rebellion, camaraderie, and the joy of childhood mischief.
